Use fine netting on fruit bushes to protect buds from birds. Similarly safe guard early blossom on plums, peaches and cherries from the frost with protective fleece (available from garden centres like St Bridget Nurseries).

Snip newly planted raspberry canes down to about 23cm-30cm after planting.

Plant rhubarb crowns in February in well-cultivated soil.
